In her photos as well as in her pictorial works of art, Bandurek stands out for her visual acuity and sensitivity at capturing the natural world. Something striking in her photographic work lies in the sensitivity she possesses to spot beauty in the tiny, along with her ductility with which she captures the photographic instant, the detail. She holds a unique sense which enables her to pay attention to that which not all of us could see, highlighted by the passion she gets from nature.

Her academic training within the scientific world (she is an ecologist and field naturalist) provides a framework and material for her visual production, which is aimed at the animal and vegetal world. Speaking of her work, Cynthia says:’ what this particular means (photography) enables me to do is to show a side of the world very few people could see or very few stop to observe as it constitutes an almost imperceptible world. Though it is a world which is revealed to us once we dare to explore it and it won´t let us go’

We are granted access to an unknown universe due to her macro photographs, which have been enlarged with a particular esthetic vision, thus enabling the tiny wonders hidden to the naked eye. Her shots abound in color, detail and call upon the sense of touch. The smallest animals lose their size before the lens to appear in their purest and most real beauty. Same happens with flowers and vegetables: they open up before us so that we could contemplate their magnificence and their countless microscopic parts. The subtlety of Creation is unveiled, which is shown in its widest spectrum, thus enthralling us and enabling us to discover everlasting sides to it.

From the most captivating insect to the most striking reptile, there is nothing escaping her lens, nothing is lost in the visible world of the artist. She confers a sublime character to her landscapes, impossible not to notice. The shot in the moment of dawn, lost in the green foliage with a cloudy backdrop are examples of her unusual and sensitive vision, which offers us the memory of thrilling and grandiose moments.

Bandurek has defined her vocation and practice well when she said: ‘My interest for wildlife and nature are an innate gift. That interest has led all that I have done in my life, be it the careers I pursued, my present job at the Museum of Natural Sciences or my participation in conservation projects. It is obviously present in my art, in my painting as well as my photography. You are being encouraged to discover her unique vision of the world and nature.
